Life is too short to miss the blooming dogwood trees in Palestine, Texas and we want you to know when the time is right! The Palestine Economic Development Corporation has partnered with the Texas AgriLife Extension Services for Anderson County to host the official 2012 Dogwood Bloom Watch. We will provide weekly updates on the dogwood blooms. The trees are being monitored by Mark Price, Anderson County extension agent, who is our chief dogwood horticultural expert.

Seeing the dogwoods bloom in Palestine, Texas was #56 in Texas Monthly's article "The Bucket List: 63 Things All Texans Should Do Before They Die." Make sure you cross #56 off your list this year during the Dogwood Trails Celebration.

Mark Price took the Economic Development crew on a tour of Davey Dogwood Park. Below is the dogwood tree Mark uses to when determining when the dogwoods will bloom.

Despite the drought this summer, the dogwood seems to be doing great. There has been a good amount of rain this winter and with the unseasonable hot tempartures in January and February many spring plants and flowers are already blooming.

The dogwoods have not bloomed, but the buds are starting to form. Mark says we can expect to see the dogwoods bloom early this year.
