Community Development Grant Applications Being Accepted.

Palestine, Texas:  The Board of Directors of the Palestine Economic Development Corporation is pleased to announce that $50,000 will be available in the Community Development Grant program for 2009.  Applications are available at PEDC’s office located at 100 Willow Creek Parkway, Suite A in the Willow Creek Business Park or online at PEDC’s website www.PalestineTexas.net.  Deadlines for submitting an application is March 18, 2008.

The Community Development Program is open to a government agency or non-profit organization that is located in Palestine.  PEDC will consider any of the following as a project:  Athletic facilities: Professional and amateur (including children’s) sports and athletics including stadiums and ballparks.  Parks and related public space improvements: Public park purposes and events, including auditoriums, amphitheaters, park and parks facilities, open space improvements, and public space improvements including learning centers, and municipal buildings.  Tourism and entertainment facilities: Entertainment, tourist and convention facilities, including museums, concert halls, and exhibition facilities.  Other related improvements to the above: Any related store, restaurant, concession, and automobile parking facilities; related area transportation facilities; related road, street, water and sewer facilities and other related improvements that enhance any of those listed above.  Affordable housing: Projects suitable for the development or expansion of “affordable housing” as defined by Federal Law.
