New PEDC director focuses on blight, housing

On the job for just three weeks, new Palestine Economic Development Corporation Director Gayle Cooper has already learned the hard way about one of the city's top development problems: A lack of housing.
“I had trouble finding even a small apartment, until I decided on a home,” Cooper told the Herald-Press on Wednesday. “Housing is definitely a priority. We've gotten some outside developers interested in building both single-family and multi-family homes in Palestine.”
Cleaning up and minimizing blight is also high on Cooper's to-do list.
