Driving Economic Development in Palestine

The Palestine Economic Development Corporation operates as a Type B Texas economic development entity established under the Development Corporation Act of 1979. At present, our division relies on funding derived from a ¼ cent sales tax revenue. Our core mission is: To promote and facilitate responsible commercial and industrial business retention and growth that expands, diversifies, and strengthens the local tax base while enhancing local amenities and destination attractions throughout the city of Palestine. 

Within the city, our department assumes responsibility for economic development,  business recruitment, retention, and expansion. The PEDC Board, constituted by state law and appointed by the Mayor and City Council, serves as the governing body providing policy direction for the economic development initiatives in Palestine, Texas.
