Do You Love History?

April 9, 2018

Palestine, Texas is rich in history, starting in 1846 when the town and county was founded. As the city grew so did the number of prominent downtown buildings, especially when the railroad came to town. Palestine experienced a boom around the turn-of-the-century and was considered an illustrious town in it's day. Palestine's Historic District is on the National Register of Historic Places and still contains a large number of historically significant buildings. A self-guided walking tour is the best way to experience the old town charm of downtown Palestine.

The city of Palestine participates in the State and National Main Street program and is nationally accredited. If you are searching for a charming place to spend the weekend, are a history buff or simply love old-fashioned Americana, this is the place to be. We invite you to visit us.
