Palestine EDC Welcomes Texas Health and Human Services to Willow Creek Business Park
May 21, 2021
The Palestine Economic Development Corporation’s (PEDC) 352-acre Willow Creek Business Park welcomes the latest office facility for the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHS) and Texas Department of Family and Protective Services.
“The new facility for Texas Health and Human Services is a wonderful addition to the Willow Creek Business Park, and we welcome them as our newest business within the park,” said Lisa Denton, Palestine Economic Development Director. “Wildwood Development has done a great job with construction, and I am certain the new offices will help streamline their processes. We look forward to their continued growth and assistance in Palestine.”
David Potter, with Wildwood Development LLC, just recently completed construction on the new office facility. The proposed lease was a build-to-suit facility that gave agencies the flexibility for input on the design to best meet the operational needs of each program.
PEDC conveyed a 5.599-acre parcel to the project. In return, the development will bring $3,100,000 in capital investment, and 50 retained full-time positions with up to 26 new full-time positions to be created. The move to the new facility from HHS’s existing location at 330 E Spring Street, Suites B & D is tentatively scheduled for August 2021.
According to Ty Bishop, HHS Assistant Press Officer, the facility will house offices for the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (which administers programs including Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, Medicaid, and community services), the Department of State Health Services, and the Department of Family and Protective Services (Child Protective Services and Adult Protective Services).
“The new building consolidates these programs in one facility, which means it will be more convenient for the community to access social services,” said Bishop. “We anticipate staff growth as the potential need for services increases and funding is available.”
Willow Creek Business Park is an ideal, welcoming location for these offices with its landscaped streetscapes and proximity to award-winning restaurants, hotels and shopping. Texas HHS and all of the tenants benefit from fully functional utilities and access to high-speed communication technologies.
