When Karthik Sundaram, President of Engineering and Operations at Texas Futura, started looking for a location for its world-class used oil re-refinery, Palestine, Texas stood above the rest. Palestine provided an ideal location between two major metropolitan cities (Dallas and Houston) while offering easy access to rail lines and ports in the Gulf of Mexico. On April 11, the plans to establish a Texas Futura location in Palestine became a reality through an official groundbreaking ceremony that kicked off construction on the project

“This project was in development for more than five years and now we are ready to serve and save the environment,” says Sundaram. “We still have a long way to go, but every step closer to launching our operations is exciting.”

Texas Futura is Good for the Environment and Economy

Texas Futura promises to bring a unique business model to the East Texas region. The re-refinery prevents oil contaminants from getting dumped in nature, thus protecting the environment. The re-refining process will also lead to less exploration of fossil fuels because the oil can be reclaimed.  

“This is an opportunity for us to educate the community of the importance of collecting and proper disposal of used lube oil,” says Sundaram.

Texas Futura Will Bring Full-Time Jobs to Palestine, TX

The development of the used oil re-refinery will create short-term and long-term work for the residents of Palestine, Texas. In the short run, Texas Futura will need construction workers and other skilled laborers to develop the production plant. Once the facility is ready, Texas Futura will need a mixture of administrative and operations staff.

The company is looking for people who have experience in oil and gas along with candidates who have worked in the petrochemical industry. However, there will also be opportunities to learn on the job for applicants who are eager to enter this career field.

“We are open to training the right candidates if they have the willingness to learn,” says Sundaram.
