PEDC Offers $500 Scholarships for Business Leaders to Attend Express Pros Training
June 17, 2024
The Palestine Economic Development Corporation (PEDC) recently partnered with Express Pros Training to provide development and learning opportunities to business leaders in the area. The monthly management workshops will take place in the PEDC boardroom and support both new and experienced business leaders. Each workshop lasts around two hours.
“We are looking for new leaders who have worked in their positions for less than two years, along with experienced leaders who need to hit the refresh button, whether they feel they have reached complacency or want to refocus their skills,” says Sarah Anderson, Client Engagement Director at Express Pros Training. “More importantly, we are looking for organizations that want to invest in their people, culture, leaders, and future.”
The cost to attend all six workshops is $1,050 (which is around $175 per course), but PEDC is currently offering a $500 scholarship to local leaders who are interested in growth. This brings the cost down to $90 per course. Learn more about this training opportunity and whether it is a good fit for you.
The Monthly Workshops Focus on Six Key Areas
These seminars will start in September 2024 and run monthly through the rest of the year. Here are the six target areas that Express Pros Training will cover:
- Making the Transition: Developing the mindset and perspective for effective leadership
- Awareness: Knowing yourself and your team and how to effectively communicate
- Feedback: Expectations, accountability, and performance
- Conversational Capacity: Strengthening communication skills - even under pressure
- Employee Engagement: Keeping your team engaged and motivated
- The Coaching Manager: Moving employees to greater independence
Anderson explains that her company prioritizes the relationship side of training and wants to help each organization it works with grow. “This isn't a ‘pick a training concept off the bookshelf and apply it to all your needs’ type of service,” she says. Express Pros Training is focused on sustainable growth, purpose, and results.
Each Workshop Builds on the Other
While Express Pros Training focuses on six key development areas, its information cannot be siloed into individual lessons. Managers and business leaders are encouraged to attend each of these workshops to become well-rounded leaders who support their team members.
“Both individuals and businesses will experience increased self-awareness, ability to handle courageous conversations, alignment with organizational goals and mission, increased employee engagement, creating and sustaining a culture of accountability, and organizational involvement,” says Anderson.
Investing in these workshops can help you grow as a leader throughout the rest of 2024 and apply what you learned for years to come.
Investing in Local Leaders Supports Economic Development
PEDC is eager to provide scholarships to local business leaders to support their growth. Not only does this make development more affordable, but also more accessible.
“Training doesn’t have to be out of reach financially,” says Christophe Trahan, Economic Development Director at PEDC. “And business leaders don’t have to travel across the state or country to attend leadership conferences. PEDC is bringing development directly to local private sector leaders.”
When EDCs support local business leaders, they can run their businesses more effectively. This makes organizations more productive and more likely to succeed in their growth plans. Better leadership also increases employee engagement, reduces turnover, and supports long-term stability.
“We want Palestine to be filled with businesses that people want to work for,” says Trahan. “These workshops can help leaders develop healthy, sustainable organizations that support the local economy while also creating high-quality jobs that excite applicants.”
